Prospect: WR Kevin Norwood, Alabama
Weight: 195 lbs.
Initial Grade: 6.2 (Grading Scale)
In 2009, Kevin Norwood signed with Alabama as a top-30 wide receiver prospect. He took a redshirt during his true freshman season and then appeared in all 13 games as a redshirt freshman, 11 games as a redshirt sophomore, and 12 games last season as a redshirt junior.
Last season, Norwood became a starter for Alabama and caught 29 balls for 461 yards and 4 TD’s. Now in his fifth year, Norwood will be a leader of the Alabama offense and should be senior QB A.J. McCarron’s safest target.
Preseason Scouting Perceptions
Kevin Norwood is a well rounded wide receiver prospect that does everything fairly well. He is a solid route runner, has very good hands and makes good adjustments to the ball. Norwood’s long speed isn’t the best but his acceleration is up there with the top receiver prospects in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Norwood should be able to stick in the NFL as a move-the-chains receiver. I’m not so sure if he can improve his draft stock because he is a polished receiver prospect with just average potential. In all honesty, a productive season in 2013 is probably the best way for Norwood to gain some draft momentum.
